Welcome to Barnby Dun Cricket Club
Barnby Dun Cricket Club has been in existence since 1870 and been a founder member of local cricket leagues. Famous former players include Johnny Wardle, the ex-England spin bowler, and the club has consistently produced a steady supply of young cricketers to the Yorkshire schoolboy and representative teams in recent years. Junior cricket is thriving in the club with teams at U11, U13, U15 (2 teams) and U17 levels providing opportunities for over 70 youngsters. The club also runs 2 senior teams in the Pontefract League and an evening league side mid-week. The wicket and outfield stand comparison with any in the area and the ground has tremendous potential.

Poor weather continues!
New pavilion- at last!
The much awaited top of the table clash between Barnby Dun 1st XI and Conisbrough fell victim to the poor weather on Saturday without a ball being bowled. The game was abandoned with both sides gaining two points and only one game was played in the league with no effect on top of the table placings. So it's all to play for in the last few games with Barnby Dun still second in the table.
The 2nd team game against local rivals Bentley was abandoned on Saturday without a ball being bowled. With Bentley just two points above them at the top of the table, Barnby Dun were keen to make up ground but only Knottingley were able to play and get a result. This leaves Barnby Dun in fourth place in the league table but with everything to play for in the closing weeks of the season.
Some great news for the club this week! After many attempts, over a number of years, to secure funding for a new pavilion to replace the portakabins above, we received the excellent news this week that plans are now in place to build a new community facility which will include changing rooms and social facilities. This is great news, and real thanks should go to the numerous people who have worked tirelessly to secure this new facility. Watch this space for more details.
Well done to everybody!

Help support the development of Barnby Dun Cricket Club...
Can you support Barnby Dun Cricket Club to enable it to fulfil its ambition to become one of the leading clubs in South Yorkshire. Founded in 1870, the club was forced to leave its home at Park Hill a few years ago due to the creation of the golf driving range.
The club has a very active junior section, with over seventy youngsters from Barnby Dun and Kirk Sandall registered to play this season at all ages from 9 to 17 in the Doncaster Furniture Factors Junior League. We consider it important to provide the opportunity for young people to play cricket and spend their time and energy participating in sporting activity. We also have two senior teams in the Pontefract & District League and a team in the Doncaster Evening League.
